George Michael to follow in Muse's footsteps

George Michael is set to follow in the footsteps of Muse by releasing a cover of 'Feeling Good' � the song that originally featured in the 1965 melodic 'The Roar Of The Greasepaint � The Smell Of The Crowd' � and was later song dynasty by Nina Simone.


The singer's variation of the song will be released as a free download on Christmas Day (December 25). Muse released their own cover of the song in 2001, and it is still a staple of their live set.

Michael revealed his plan to release 'Feeling Good' during a concert at the London Earl's Court venue last night (August 24), reports BBC News.


He also revealed further single plans, hinting that he was non retiring despite billing the show, in conjunction with another tonight (August 25) at the venue, as his final gigs.


During the show Michael said he would tone ending a new Christmas exclusive this winter in accession to the aforementioned download, suggesting that while he may be stepping off from alive shows he doesn't plan to leave music completely behind.

'VH1 Rock Honors: The Who' Tickets Go on Sale Sunday, June 8 with Proceeds to Benefit the Efforts of Multiple Charities

Third Annual Event, Featuring Live Performances by The Who and Tribute
Bands Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and The Flaming Lips, Will Premiere Thursday,
July 17 at 9:00pm* from the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles

NEW YORK, June 2 -- For the first time ever, fans will
have the opportunity to see some of the biggest names in rock together on
one stage as tickets go on sale for the network's third annual "VH1 Rock
Honors" event paying homage to legendary British rock band The Who. "VH1
Rock Honors: The Who" will be taped on Saturday, July 12 from the Pauley
Pavilion in Los Angeles and will premiere on VH1 on Thursday, July 17 at
9pm with tribute performances by Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and The Flaming
Lips.

On Friday, June 6, tickets will go on sale to WHOLIGANS, members of The
Who Fan Club (thewho.com). On Saturday, June 7, tickets will be available
to members of The Ten club, Pearl Jam's fan club (pearljam.com) and to the
Foo Fighters fan club (foofighters.com). The general public on-sale will
begin on Sunday, June 8 at 10:00AM (PDT). Tickets will be priced at $300,
$125 and $65, not including applicable service charges, via
http://www.ticketmaster.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling
213-480-3232. Ticket sales are limited to four (4) per person and tickets
will remain on sale until sold-out.

This year's event will deliver a night of high-voltage tribute
performances by Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and The Flaming Lips all leading up
to the spectacular grand finale performance by The Who as they rock the
stage. Additional performers, presenters and special guests will be
announced as they are confirmed. As a result of The Who's revolutionary and
era-defining influence on rock music, this will be the first "VH1 Rock
Honors" that salutes just one band.

Taping in Los Angeles at the Pauley Pavilion on the campus of UCLA on
July 12, "VH1 Rock Honors: The Who" will premiere on Thursday, July 17 at
9pm* on VH1, VH1 Classic and MHD. VH1.com will also offer select
performances from the show leading up to and following the on-air premiere
at Rock.VH1.com. The Who's monumental legacy will be celebrated with a 2 --
hour tribute that will salute the music and the lasting impact of this
groundbreaking band. The influence of The Who will be felt through spoken
tributes, filmed packages and performances by some of today's premier rock
acts as well as the legends themselves.

Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the efforts of the following
charities:

Double O

Double O charity was started by The Who in 1976 and has now evolved
into a private dispersal charity focused more than ever on 'survival' of
drug and alcohol damage, domestic violence, sexual abuse, music education,
emergency relief for international disasters, and young people's prison
reform. It has dispersed about 4,000,000 pounds Sterling since inception,
and been indirectly responsible for the dispersal of another similar amount
through Double O Promotions, which channels a lot of Townshend- and
Who-related activity. Since 2002, all of the Who tours have been recorded,
and live CDs of every show have been sold as part of the Encore series. All
the proceeds, after profit, have gone to Double O -- totaling about
1,000.000 pounds so far.

Teenage Cancer Trust

Six teenagers will find out they have cancer today, six tomorrow and

Noise

New York lawyer David Owen (Tim Robbins) is going nuts. The noise of the big city is putting him over the edge, especially when it comes to car alarms. His wife Helen (Bridget Moynahan) and little girl (Gabrielle Brennan) are not quite sure what to make of his growing obsession with stopping the invasive noise, but at first they indulge him. But as David's anger escalates and he begins to vandalize the shrieking cars--and get arrested in the process--he loses both his family and his job. Even that doesn't stop him. He turns into �The Rectifier,� a vigilante noise-abatement specialist, who wields a hammer, baseball bat, and battery-wire cutters, smashing cars all over town. And he becomes a city hero, too, much to the annoyance of the foul-mouthed mayor (William Hurt) and his overeager chief of staff (William Baldwin). David even finds a partner in crime (and in his bed) Ekaterina (Margarita Levieva), a beautiful young woman who offers up a more legal way to accomplish his goal of silencing the screeching autos.Robbins gives a completely believable performance as David, a man at the end of his Noise rope. With his sad-sack face and towering body, Robbins is the perfect picture of a New Yorker whose life has somehow spiraled out of his control. The only part of the scenario that is hard to believe is his ability to get gorgeous women to sleep with him; his central relationship with his wife (the as-always emotionless Bridget Moynahan, who has a film career based solely on her beauty) is completely unbelievable, and jars with the rest of the movie. More real is David�s slightly twisted relationship with Russian beauty Margarita Levieva as Ekaterina--at least it is conceivable that she is fascinated with his larger-than-life vigilante persona. Plus, Levieva gives a lively, fun performance that elevates every scene she is in. William Hurt and William Baldwin do a sort of Laurel and Hardy routine, as the silly mayor and his right-hand man, which is interesting to watch but sadly, not very funny. And what is up with Hurt's dyed red hair? That's just weird.Noise�s writer/director Henry Bean uses a variety of film techniques, including split screens, time-shifting--even superimposing the text of a Hegel philosophical tract on the screen--creating visual interest in what is otherwise an often static story. But while the basic plot revolving around one man's obsession with ridding the city of noise is an interesting one, the journey of the film is a slowly paced and talky slog. It isn't a good sign when one of the best moments of the whole movie comes as the credits roll, as Bean's protagonist gleefully smashes the crap out of two cars with a baseball bat. Otherwise the movie is mostly about conversation, as characters discuss ad nauseam the affect that noise has on humanity's collective psyche. The result is a film that fails to ignite our imagination or hold our interest.
